Date: May 28, 2026 Requisition No: 876570 Agency: Commerce Position Location: Hollywood, FL; Fort Lauderdale, FL Job Type: Full-Time We are a state agency engaged in the Disabled Veterans Outreach Program (DVOP). The role involves outreach, counseling, and placement of eligible veterans and spouses to secure employment. Responsibilities Conduct comprehensive skill assessments and develop individualized employment plans. Provide group and individual career counseling and pre‑vocational services. Coordinate with the Department of Veteran Affairs VRE counselors and other community partners. Facilitate outreach to local organizations, including colleges and apprenticeship programs. Assist veterans in building resumes, improving interview skills, and preparing for employment. Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Promote and market the Career Center. Effective written and verbal communication in individual and group settings. Fundamentals of counseling and case management. Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Experience in group presentations, workshop instruction, or facilitation. Teamwork and problem‑solving skills. Public interaction, interview skills, and active listening. Independent planning, organization, prioritization, and coordination of work. Qualifications Level 2 security background screening (fingerprinting and law‑enforcement review). Presentation of military documentation (DD‑214 and disability statement) prior to closing. Completion of Jobs for Veterans State Grant training within 18 months. Degree in public administration, business administration, social services, or related field plus 1–3 years of relevant experience, or equivalent experience. Certification as a Workforce Professional Tier 1 within 30 days of hire. Availability for occasional weekend or after‑hour community events. Local travel with own transportation. Preferred Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Business, Human Services, Education, or related field plus 1–3 years of experience. Experience in workforce development, employment services, counseling, or job placement. Experience using state workforce development databases. Registration with EmployFlorida. Veterans’ Preference: Candidates with Veterans’ Preference documentation receive preference per Florida Statutes. Pay: $55,000 annually.
