PET/CT Technologist
Location: NYC, NY Duration: 2 months Contract Schedule: DAY Monday-Friday, 10am-6pm Hourly rate: $85/ hour on W2 Negotiable
Role Summary & Clinical Duties
- PET Imaging & Patient Care: Performs diagnostic PET/CT examinations under physician clinical supervision, reviewing requisitions/screening forms, assessing patient needs, and explaining procedures to patients and families.
- Radiopharmaceutical & IV Administration: Delivers unit doses via manual injection or automated dose delivery systems (e.g., Medrad Intego); establishes peripheral IV lines; administers contrast agents and radiopharmaceuticals following regulatory and protocol guidelines.
- Image Processing & PACS: Processes complex PET/CT imaging (including Axial Fusion, Myeloma Kidney Standard/Coronal cuts) and archives studies to PACS, MIM systems, and Syngo servers.
Safety, QA & Equipment Maintenance
- Radiation Safety & Compliance: Adheres to NYS DOH, Radiation Safety, and SNMMI standards; tracks radiopharmaceutical doses in NMIS/Client systems; issues Dose Exposure Cards; manages radioactive waste/delivery cases safely.
- Quality Control: Performs daily/monthly QA and constancy checks on PET cameras (X-ray/PET), dose calibrators (Intego, AtomLab 500), and wipe counters; conducts area wipes and survey measurements.
Shift & Schedule Details
- Shift: Day Shift, Monday – Friday (10:00 AM – 6:00 PM).
- Schedule Notes: Must be open to flexible work schedules/extended hours if needed.
Required Qualifications & Technical Skills
- Licensure: Dual License in Nuclear Medicine and CT required.
- Technical Skills: Proficient in peripheral IV insertion, PET/CT processing workstations, PACS/RIS, dose delivery systems, and CPR/infection control protocols.
