Human Resources Technician I

Benefits-focused HR role at the State of North Carolina - Adult Correction, based onsite at Hyde Correctional Institution in Hyde County, NC (Swan Quarter area). This position supports employees and the public by handling core HR documentation, transactions, and customer service while working with Workday and established HR processes. Compensation: USD 33,902 to 59,327 per year. Experience requirement: 2 years. Education: Associate’s degree (typically in Human Resources or a relevant field). What you’ll do Coordinate the full lifecycle collection, processing, and submission of FMLA and ADA documentation. Support annual open enrollment , including employee retirement processing and offboarding activities. Maintain compliant, accurate, and up-to-date physical and digital personnel files . Generate and audit weekly and monthly HR metrics to support data accuracy and timely delivery. Research and help resolve employee questions related to compensation, deductions, and payroll discrepancies . Coordinate and execute quarterly job fairs and community hiring events to support recruiting efforts. Initiate, package, and process diverse LOA requests , including FMLA, Extended Illness, Paid Parental Leave (PPL), Family Illness Leave (FIL), and Military Leave , by securing required federal compliance documents (examples include WH380-E and WH380-F ). Provide HR and customer service information to employees and the public in response to HR questions. Process, verify, and maintain standard HR documentation, including pre-employment materials and change of status forms , and gather information for review and analysis by others related to HR transactions. Requirements Documented experience applying HR policy and procedures. Documented knowledge using Human Resources Information Systems (HRIS) , including Workday and/or other software programs.
