Assistant Electrical Discipline Manager - Healthcare

Job DescriptionWe are currently seeking an Assistant Electrical Discipline Manager for our Healthcare Electrical Team in our Raleigh, NC office!In this pivotal role, you will be responsible for ensuring the successful execution of electrical projects as outlined in proposals, while effectively managing and mentoring your staff to achieve outstanding results. You will work closely with Project and Client Managers to provide essential engineering resources and assemble a high-performing design team that meets client expectations and budgetary goals. Your expertise will also extend to direct MEP sales and supporting multidisciplinary project efforts. Familiarity with NFPA 99, NEC 517, and FGI will be advantageous. Our commitment to excellence stems from our personal integrity and from other defining attributes, which we call “Dewberry at Work,” that have inspired our employees to be successful for more than a half-century.ResponsibilitiesAssistant Electrical Discipline Manager will assist the Healthcare Electrical Discipline Manager in leading their department (~8 staff) to effectively and successfully complete projects, including:Growing, mentoring, and developing department staff to allow each person to achieve their maximum potential.Minimum annual evaluations for each direct report.Technical and Quality oversight of all project work for department.Establishing/improving department standards.Adherence to project design schedules.Notification to Project/Client Managers if established project design schedule cannot be met.Adherence to department project budget. Review and provide updates on project budgets at milestone dates. Reviewing discipline budgets weekly.Attention to project scope during the design process to identify potential additional services.Identify department staff performing design of the project, along with a senior staff and EOR as required.Provide general updates of projects (status in the process, tasks to complete, percentage complete currently, etc.)Identify milestone dates when each discipline should provide information, at each phase, to allow sufficient time to good design coordination.Provide 'on-the-spot' advice and decisions, technical and cost estimates.Coordination with all disciplines involved, including outside consultants.Work schedule for discipline showing:Project assignments and prioritiesDelivery due dates for group project commitment’sWorkload/CapacityOrganizing staff in a way to allow career advancement, professional development, quality client service, and operational efficiencies to meet business and project financial goals.Taking a very active role in recruitment of staff in discipline area including networking, recruitment, interviewing and “deal closing”.The Assistant Discipline Manager’s goal is to, when ready, become a Discipline Manager, leading their own department.Required Skills & Required ExperienceLicensed Professional Engineer (P.E.) or ability to obtain licensure through reciprocity (example through Comity) within the State in which the position is posted within six (6) months.8+yrs experience.Familiar with AIA and state construction contractsSelf-motivated with highly developed verbal, written, and interpersonal skillsExperience in staff management/department managementExperience in the design of various MEP systems, and an understanding of document preparation utilizing both CADD and BIM/Revit platformsWell organized, takes good notesGood conceptual understanding of plumbing, mechanical and electrical systems with general knowledge of system operation, space requirements, and cost.Don’t meet every single requirement?
