This onsite role is ideal for passionate Special Education professionals prepared to help students with Intellectual Disabilities reach their full potential. You’ll thrive in a well-resourced environment, utilizing an online curriculum and collaborating closely with occupational therapy, speech, and social work providers directly in the classroom.
Key Qualifications:
- Hold a valid PEL (Professional Educator License) with LBS1 Endorsement as required by state and discipline
- Experience teaching students with intellectual or developmental disabilities, preferably at the elementary level
- Familiarity with online curriculum platforms and differentiated instruction strategies
- Comfortable collaborating with related service providers and paraprofessionals in an inclusive academic setting
- Strong organizational, communication, and classroom management skills
Responsibilities:
- Lead a self-contained classroom for 4th and 5th graders functioning at approximately a second-grade level
- Design and implement individualized lesson plans using provided online curriculum
- Foster a positive, engaging, and structured learning environment tailored to student abilities and goals
- Coordinate student services with on-site OT, speech, and social work professionals
- Track student progress and adapt strategies as needed in partnership with support staff and families
- Maintain compliance with all relevant educational standards and documentation requirements
