Job Description

The Tester Operator verifies the quality and functionality of manufactured printed circuit boards by performing standardized pass/fail tests, accurately documenting results, and maintaining a clean, organized, and compliant work station within an ESD-controlled manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities

• Perform pass/fail testing on printed circuit boards by connecting multiple cables and initiating standardized test procedures.
• Verify that all cables and connections are properly attached before starting tests to ensure accurate and reliable results.
• Monitor test outcomes and separate boards into designated pass and fail areas based on test results.
• Complete detailed reports for failed boards, documenting error codes and other relevant information in the appropriate systems.
• Use a computer-based workstation for test execution, data entry, and report completion across multiple software programs and an MES system.
• Maintain test equipment, cables, hand tools, and other work station tools in good working order.
• Keep the work station clean and organized, consistently following 5S and lean manufacturing principles.
• Adhere to ESD environment controls and guidelines to protect sensitive electronic components.
• Perform visual inspection and quality control checks on parts as needed to support quality assurance processes.
• Follow established testing processes and procedures to ensure consistency and compliance with quality standards.
• Assimilate into the manufacturing team’s goals and culture, collaborating effectively with long-tenured team members.
• Comply with all facility policies, including strict adherence to the no-phone policy on the manufacturing floor.

Essential Skills

• Hands-on experience with quality control and inspection of parts in a manufacturing or electronics environment.
• Knowledge of testing processes and procedures for electronic components or printed circuit boards.
• Ability to work confidently with computers, including data entry and navigation of multiple software programs.
• Experience using an MES (Manufacturing Execution System) for production or test-related activities.
• Familiarity with printed circuit boards (PCBs) and basic electronics manufacturing practices.
• Capability to use hand tools safely and effectively in a production or test setting.
• Understanding of ESD (Electrostatic Discharge) controls and requirements in an electronics manufacturing environment.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy when documenting test results and error codes.
• Reliability in following standardized work instructions, quality assurance procedures, and lean manufacturing practices.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Previous experience in electronics or PCBA (printed circuit board assembly) manufacturing is strongly preferred.
• Comfort working with multiple computer programs and systems in a production environment.
• Familiarity with 5S and lean manufacturing concepts and their application to daily work.
• Ability to integrate into an established manufacturing team and support shared production goals.
• Willingness to follow strict facility policies, including a no-phone policy on the manufacturing floor.

Work Environment

This role is based in a manufacturing facility operating Monday through Friday from 6:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., with very little overtime expected. All team members take a consistent 30-minute meal break each day, supporting a predictable daily routine. The environment is ESD-controlled, and employees are expected to understand and follow ESD requirements when handling electronic components. The manufacturing team includes long-tenured employees, and new team members are expected to align with the established goals and culture of the group. There is a strict no-phone policy on the manufacturing floor, and violation of this policy can result in release from the role. Work is performed at a computer-equipped workstation with cables, hand tools, and other testing equipment that must be kept clean, organized, and well-maintained.

This is a Contract position based out of San Diego, CA.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $21.00 - $21.00/hr.
