Responsibilities

• Perform welding and fabrication on structural steel components, with a primary focus on I-beams used in the construction industry.
• Read and interpret blueprints to understand weld symbols, dimensions, and assembly requirements.
• Set up welding equipment and materials to complete assigned jobs efficiently and accurately.
• Execute flux core and MIG welding processes to produce high-quality welds on mild steel and structural components.
• Inspect welds and fabricated parts to ensure they meet quality standards and blueprint specifications.
• Assist with fitting and fabrication tasks, including positioning, aligning, and assembling structural steel parts, when needed.
• Work in a production environment to meet daily and weekly output goals while maintaining safety and quality.
• Collaborate with team members to complete assemblies and structural steel fabrication projects.
• Maintain a clean and organized work area and follow all shop safety procedures and guidelines.

Essential Skills

• Proficiency in welding, including flux core (FCAW) and MIG welding processes.
• Experience with structural steel fabrication, particularly working with I-beams and mild steel.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints accurately for welding and assembly tasks.
• Demonstrated capability to weld efficiently and effectively in a production environment.
• Basic fitting skills to assist with positioning and assembling structural components.
• Strong attention to detail to ensure weld quality and adherence to specifications.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience with fabrication and assembly of structural steel components.
• Prior work in a shop or bay environment focused on production welding.
• Familiarity with hard wire welding processes is helpful.
• Ability to support fitting and fabrication tasks beyond welding when required.
• Comfort working with various welding processes, including MIG and TIG, is a plus.

Work Environment

You will work in a shop bay environment focused on structural steel fabrication and production welding. The role is indoors, though the facility is not temperature controlled, so conditions may vary with the seasons. The environment is centered around welding equipment and steel fabrication tools, with an emphasis on safety, productivity, and teamwork

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Mead, WA.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $22.00 - $32.00/hr.
