About the Position

Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: RN (Registered Nurse) Specialty: Long Term Acute Care Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 12H Nights Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: Minimum 1 year License: Active state license required Certifications: BLS required, ACLS preferred Must-Have: Experience with PEG tube care/feedings, CVC/PICC/Midline usage and care, and tracheostomy patients. Description: The unit accommodates a patient ratio of 1:5. Common diagnoses include respiratory failure, post-surgical care, wound care, IV antibiotics, post-stroke, post-trauma, and cardiac patients. RNs are required to titrate drips, with common titratable drips including Heparin. House Supervisors are available 24/7. There are nurse aides/patient care techs on this unit, with a ratio of 1:10, assisting RNs with patient care duties. Respiratory equipment such as vents, CPAP, BiPAP, and high flow are utilized, and RNs are expected to troubleshoot these devices. Telemetry monitoring is supported by a Monitor Tech stationed in the ICU, but RNs may need to read their own strips using housewide tele packs. RNs will float to the ICU if qualified and may float to Acute Rehab from time to time. The dress code allows scrubs only, with approved T-shirts. Shifts are scheduled as 12-hour shifts from 7 AM to 7:30 PM. Weekend and holiday rotations are required to fill scheduling holes. There is no current call or standby requirement, but this may change in the future. Unit-specific orientation includes classroom training and two shifts on the unit with a preceptor. The charting system used is EPIC.
