Description

American Traveler is hiring a Med/Surg Tele RN for a night shift hospital role requiring 2 years of experience, NC or compact RN license, and NIHSS certification.

Details

• Work in the Med/Surg Telemetry unit of a hospital setting
• Patient population includes diabetes, dementia, COVID, pneumonia, COPD, sepsis, encephalopathy, GI bleed, anemia, hip fracture, CHF, UTI, renal failure, hypertension, cellulitis, and surgical recovery cases
• Patient ratio of 1:6
• Night shift, 4x12 hours, 18:45-07:15
• 36 or 48 hour contracts accepted
• Floating required to other Med/Surg units and to the main campus (approximately 32 minutes away)
• Every other weekend required
• No on-call requirements
• Uses Pyxis, EPIC, and SBAR for medication, documentation, and communication

Requirements

• Active RN license (NC or Compact) required, pending acceptable at submission
• Current certifications: BLS and NIHSS required, ACLS preferred
• Minimum 2 years of relevant RN experience required
• Charge nurse experience preferred
• Epic charting experience preferred
• Community hospital experience preferred
• Skilled in interpretation and management of dysrhythmias, telemetry monitoring, blood product administration, central line and PICC line management, IV therapy, and wound care
• Experience with respiratory care including BiPAP/CPAP, HFNC, and oxygen administration
• Experience managing renal failure and pre/post hemodialysis care
• Must pass EKG testing prior to start

Additional Information

• Provide direct patient care for a range of medical-surgical and telemetry diagnoses, including dysrhythmia monitoring and management
• Navy blue or white scrubs required
• 24-hour unit orientation provided
• Must complete approximately 8-10 hours of pre-start and annual online modules for acute care roles
• Must be able to work holidays, including 2 of 3 major holidays
• Maximum 7 days RTO per contract, with no RTO allowed during the first week of assignment
• No blocked scheduling requests accepted except for weekend blocks (Fri-Mon or Sat-Mon)
• Contract staff may be assigned to a Storm Team or Hurricane Team and required to report during catastrophic events or disasters
• Travel pairs are allowed if assigned to different units and disclosed at submission
• Local candidates accepted at a local rate within 50 miles of the facility
• Previous Novant Health or New Hanover employees (PERM/PRN/EP) must wait 12 months before applying as a traveler
• Current travel per diem clinicians must choose one engagement type and cannot hold both simultaneously
• First-time travelers are welcome to apply
