This internship position will be part time during the school year (up to 30 hours) with the potential to work up to 40 hours during the 2027 summer internship program.  This opportunity is best suited for a local college student due to the requirement for in person attendance at company and community events to capture content for digital channels.

GENERAL SUMMARY:

The Digital Marketing Intern (Social Media) plays a crucial role in executing our company’s digital marketing strategy. The Digital Marketing Intern will assist in developing engaging digital marketing strategies and help to optimize digital campaigns, across paid and organic media. They are a creative scientist, continually evaluating and improving digital media effectiveness, ensuring adherence to best practices, analyzing digital landscapes, and creating and implementing optimization strategies. The Digital Marketing Intern’s primary responsibility is to assist with social media content ideation and creation and help with other projects across marketing channels such as email, text and web.

The role requires strong communication skills, timeliness, attention to detail, and critical thinking to ensure accuracy and continuous improvement of digital marketing efforts.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Intern activities may include some or all of the following:

• Assist with social media strategy execution.

• Assist with media campaigns as needed, including Paid Search and Social Advertising.

• Assist with managing content calendar, including curating content for holidays or other important dates for HAP brand social media channels and blog.

• Create short-form videos (“Reels”) for HAP brand social media channels.

• Evaluate large data sets to identify trends, monitor key performance indicators and recommend optimization.

• Perform market and client research.

• Work with all team members to resolve problems.

• Work with graphic designer in production of materials and/or graphics.

• Create PowerPoint presentations.

• Ensure communications contain accurate business standards and content and apply to brand standards/style guidelines.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

• Currently pursuing a bachelor’s or master’s degree in Communications, Public Relations, Marketing, Computer Science or a closely related field of study.

• Some knowledge of social media strategy execution outside of just personal use.

• Knowledge of Google and Meta Analytics.

• Excellent research, analytical and critical thinking skills.

• Proficient in using Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.) and data analysis tools.

• A strong work ethic and team mentality including professional presentation, timeliness, discipline and behavior.

• Resourcefulness and ability to work independently to problem solve.

• Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.

• Michigan/local Resident.

• Ability to attend in person meetings & community events in Troy and throughout the SE MI area.

Preferred Qualifications

• Applicable course work in Digital Marketing and/or Communications.

• Experience with tagging, link building, user experience, content management and optimization tools.

• Strong communication and writing skills; comfortable creating original content.

• Knowledge of social media platforms and schedulers like Sprout Social.
