ATHLETIC GROUNDS MANAGER- RECREATIONAL SPORTS- UNIVERSITY OF SOUTH FLORIDA

Position Title: ATHLETIC GROUNDS MANAGER – RECREATIONAL SPORTS, UNIVERSITY OF SOUTH FLORIDA, TAMPA, FL Job Summary The Grounds Manager of Recreational Sports will coordinate, supervise, and oversee all aspects of the recreational sports fields and the management included in scope of work as defined by contract – including proactive problem solving. The role develops, oversees, and implements budget and procurement processes within established guidelines and leads athletic field/grounds renovation projects. Primary Responsibilities Implement schedules for the management of athletic fields, including cultural management plan, set‑ups, stripping, and after‑event field repairs. Maintain routine communication with the Assistant Athletic Director—Grounds and necessary administrative groups. Assist with maintaining financial records of all funds and labor expenses for the department. Assist in procurement of all materials required to administer a proven management program using approved vendors and within approved protocol. Set up and take down field equipment. Develop and implement plans for emergency response due to inclement weather (e.g., hurricane, tornado). Implement Standard Operating Procedures, follow all protocol, and implement Quality Assurance plan. Implement and document training protocols for regulatory compliance, safety, and technical needs. Maintain records of all actions taken to manage identified pests, abatement, or application processes. Perform light maintenance and repair of equipment. Requirements Minimum of five years’ experience managing high‑profile athletic fields. Minimum of a two‑year degree in Agronomy, Horticulture, or a related field. Good written (report writing) and oral communication (public speaking) skills. Proficiency in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, or other compatible programs. Ability to promote awareness of the management program. Ability to obtain a pesticide license within six months of hire in the following categories: core, turf, and ornamentals.
