Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Progressive Care Unit Duration: 13 Weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum of 1 year License: Alaska RN license required Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS Must-Have: - Ability to complete RN license application within 48 hours of signing - Must have RN license in hand for auto offer Description: The position requires a Registered Nurse for a Progressive Care Unit. Candidates must be able to work three 12-hour night shifts per week. First-time travelers are accepted. The assignment length is 13 weeks, with an emphasis on various patient populations. The nurse will work within a co-care/virtual nursing model where each patient has a bedside RN, a virtual RN, and a CNA. The patient-to-RN ratio is 1:4, and the CNA-to-patient ratio is 1:6. Patient populations include those with cardiac conditions such as CHF, MI, and post-surgical care. Respiratory patients, including those with COVID, flu, COPD, and asthma, will also be managed in this unit. Nurses may also care for complicated medical-surgical cases requiring higher levels of monitoring. Experience with cardiac telemetry, high flow nasal cannula, BiPAP, and central line management is essential. Nurses will collaborate with an interdisciplinary team, including IV teams, physical therapy, and respiratory services. The unit requires nurses to float to lower acuity units and other areas as needed. Weekend coverage may be more frequent according to staffing needs. The nurse will be responsible for thorough patient education and safety rounds. Travelers must be willing to work holidays as required.
