About This Role The Associate Clinical Documentation Improvement Specialist plays a crucial role in reviewing inpatient clinical records to ensure accurate documentation and coding. This position is ideal for individuals with a background in clinical documentation improvement and strong communication skills. Highlights Location: Phoenix, AZ Schedule: Full Time, Day shift What You’ll Do Provide expert level review of inpatient clinical records within 24‑48 hours of admit. Identify gaps in clinical documentation for accurate code assignment. Conduct daily follow‑up communication with providers regarding documentation specificity. Provide expert level leadership for overall improvement in clinical documentation. Actively communicate with providers to clarify information and documentation requirements. Provide working DRG lists to Care Coordination. Ensure complete follow‑through on all requests for clarification or recommendations. Lead the development and execution of physician education strategies. Provide timely feedback to providers regarding documentation opportunities. Ensure effective utilization of Optum CDI 3D Technology for documentation activities. Requirements Education Associate’s degree required. Experience RN with at least 1 year CDI experience and current RN license, or medical graduate with CDI experience and CDI certification (CCDS, CDIP). 1+ years of experience communicating and working closely with physicians.
