Assistant Director of Human Resources

Overview of the role The Assistant Director of Human Resources works closely with the Director of Human Resources in developing, implementing, and evaluating ongoing HR policies, programs, functions, and activities. From conducting investigations to supporting and ensuring legal compliance, this role will play a pivotal role in maintaining JFE Franchising, Inc’s standards and fostering a positive work environment. This role will play a crucial part in contributing to the overall success of the HR Department. At JFE Franchising, you’ll join a dedicated team passionate about franchises and customer success. Key Accountabilities Assist the HR Director in the daily administration of other HR services as directed or assigned, including recruitment and selection, promotions, transfers, affirmative action/EEO compliance, job classification, performance evaluation, and employee relations in accordance with quality management principles and overall objectives of the organization. Conduct investigations and recommend employment status decisions to senior leadership. Provide guidance and advice to department heads and leaders at all levels of the organization on employee relations issues. Ensure our leadership team upholds with the SNOWFOX/SNOWFRUIT culture and complies with employment laws. Responsible for clear and accurate documentation of all employee issues, on a timely basis following counseling and disciplinary procedures. Collaborate with the Director of Human Resources and Director of Learning & Development to identify and address training needs and gaps within the organization. Maintain and expand knowledge and understanding of existing and proposed federal and state laws/regulations affecting human resource management. Identify trends that could affect organizational objectives and/or operational resources. Interpret appropriate laws and policies and advise management, employees, and retirees accordingly. Ensure accurate and timely management of Workers’ Compensation claims. Respond to unemployment claims, representing the company and managing the documentation process. Assist the HR Director in developing and maintaining an active “Succession Plan” for all departments. Promote a culture that values diversity and demonstrates the delivery of exemplary customer service to employees. Support recruitment efforts, onboarding, training, and development of staff members. Ensure onboarding of new associates is implemented according to JFE Franchising standards. Conduct exit interviews for all terminating associates and ensure final clearance and paycheck distributions. Assist in managing and participating in the development and implementation of goals, objectives, policies, and priorities for assigned areas and programs; recommend and administer policies and procedures. Performs other related duties as assigned What you’ll need Bachelor’s degree in human resources management, or equivalent experience preferred. 3 to 5 years of progressive experience in human resources. At least 3 years in managerial positions focused on recruitment, compensation, and performance management. Strong knowledge of labor and employment laws. Ability to think strategically, problem-solve, and make sound business decisions. Strong communication and leadership skills. What’s in it for you?
