Position Summary Grifols Diagnostic Solutions Inc is seeking a Research Associate I. The Research Associate I position reports into a Scientist level position, and with guidance is responsible for conducting non‑complex experiments and data analyses using relevant techniques/methods, assays, materials, reagents, and equipment. Educational Requirements Bachelor of Arts/Sciences in a relevant life sciences field required. Primary Responsibilities Employ a methodological approach to collect, analyze, and report data from experiments conducted; use relevant statistical analysis or software applications needed to collect and analyze data. Use relevant techniques/methods, assays, materials, reagents, and equipment to effectively conduct assigned experiments and/or tests. Participate in the design/development of non‑complex investigation protocols or procedures, and with guidance, draft clear, concise, and compliant documentation for the collection and communication of data. Collaborate with the appropriate stakeholders/partners involved to plan and conduct complex experiments or tests, collect and report results, as well as to expedite or assist addressing problems/deviations, and to mitigate potential risks that may impact project timelines. Gain knowledge of processes and available technologies. Assist with conducting root cause analysis to identify problems and seek out academic and scientific resources to define and implement solutions. Utilize active listening skills to tailor conversations to audience needs, and create graphs, charts, and other visuals that clearly communicate non‑complex data and ideas. Set project and development objectives/goals with manager's guidance and construct appropriate action plans. Follow legal, regulatory and Grifols Diagnostic Solutions (GDS) compliance policies, procedures, guidelines relevant to job, function, and organization. Seek and participate in self learning activities to gain and put new knowledge or skills to practical use. Collect and document data/information in a compliant manner, ensuring documentation is accurate, meets appropriate standards, and is maintained and accessible. Assist with inventory, place orders, and ensure appropriate supplies/materials are in stock for projects. Additional Responsibilities Will need to conduct experiments specific to nucleic acid amplification test product development. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Possess a basic knowledge of and adherence to safe laboratory practices, environmental concerns, GLP practices, and any relevant policies, FDA regulations, validations, or quality standards. Open to feedback and receptive to changes, with a willingness to adapt practices or behaviors and learn from past mistakes. Compose oral and written messages that are logical, clear, direct, and concise with an awareness of available communication methods and tools. Demonstrate active listening skills to tailor conversations to audience needs, and select the most effective mode of communication. Assess priorities and make necessary adjustments to meet project timelines. Experience Minimum 0 years with BS/BA. Equivalency Depending on the area of assignment, directly related experience or a combination of directly related education and experience and/or competencies may be considered in place of the stated requirements. Example: If a job level requires a Bachelor’s degree plus 4 years of experience, an equivalency could include 8 years of experience, an Associate’s degree with 6 years of experience, or a Master’s degree with 2 years of experience. Occupational Demands Work is performed in an office and a laboratory environment. Exposure to biological fluids with potential exposure to infectious organisms. Personal protective equipment required such as protective eyewear and gloves. Exposure to electrical office equipment. Frequently sits for 4-6 hours per day. Frequent movement of both hands with the ability to make fast, simple movements of the fingers, hands, and wrists. Color perception/discrimination required. Occasionally walks. Often performs duties standing. Frequently bends and twists neck and waist. Light to moderate lifting and carrying objects with a maximum lift of 35lbs. Able to communicate complex information and ideas so others will understand; with the ability to listen to and understand information and ideas presented through spoken words and sentences. Performs a wide range of tasks with little predictability of occurrence. Frequently interacts with others, relates sensitive information to diverse groups. Must work with diverse groups to obtain consensus on issues. Pay & Benefits The estimated pay scale for Research Associate I in San Diego, California is $31.85 - $39.81 per hour. Additionally, the position is eligible to participate in up to 5% of the company bonus pool.
