About the Position

Job Title: Surgical Technologist Profession: Surgical Tech Specialty: Operating Room Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Monday - Friday Hours per Shift: 0630-1500 with a rotating late schedule Experience: 2 years of scrub experience required, preferred orthopedic experience License: Yes Certifications: BLS Certification, Certified Surgical Technologist (TS-C) via NCCT required Must-Have: - 50-mile radius for all travelers - Required certifications: BLS and either NBSTSA or NCCT accepted - Common cases include 65% orthopedic procedures, ranging from minor procedures to several joints, orthoscopy work, plastics, ENT, and some general surgery - Only neuro procedures will be disc surgeries - No robotic surgeries, urology, vascular, GYN, or eye surgeries - Ability to pull equipment for cases Description: The department includes 10 operating rooms and one procedure room. The average number of cases per day is between 30 and 35. A Board Runner RN serves as the charge nurse on each shift. Shifts may be either 5-8s or 4-10s, starting at 07:00 or 07:30. One surgeon may utilize two rooms simultaneously. Floating to sterile processing may occur, but this is rare. Scrub color and dress code will be provided. A cap may be worn if laundered properly, and for implant cases, a disposable cap must cover the worn cap. Unit/department specific orientation will be dependent on traveler experience. There is a no call-off policy, and a 14-day written cancellation notice is required. Charting is done via paper. The care setting is outpatient.
