Lab Tech Asst - ED

Shift Start/End Time 7:00PM- 7:30AM including every other weekend Pay Range: LAB TECH ASST - $22.78 to $34.16 Job Summary In collaboration with clinical and laboratory staff the Laboratory Tech Assistant will assist in the delivery of care to patients in the Emergency department; and will be responsible for emergency department phlebotomy specimen processing including Point of Care testing, and all other assigned duties of the emergency or lab department. Licensure and Certification Education High School Diploma or GED equivalent Experience Minimum one (1) year continuous phlebotomy experience in fast paced environment required 1-2 years previous hospital laboratory experience preferred Knowledge and Skills Phlebotomy experience with all ages, neonates, children, and elderly, preferably in a hospital setting. Ability to work well within a fast paced, team environment. Ability to speak, read, and write fluently and professionally in English as well as follow verbal instructions with minimal supervision. Ability to work flexible shifts Strong organizational skills Critical thinking skills Basic computer skills Physical Demands – Patient Care Continuous standing/walking and occasional/intermittent sitting. Continuous use of bilateral upper extremities in fine motor activities requiring fingering, grasping, and forward reaching between waist and shoulder level to handle/operate medical equipment/devices. Frequent reaching above shoulder level and overhead. Frequent forward bending, twisting, squatting and kneeling; occasional climbing. Occasional repositioning and transferring patients weighing up to 200 pounds between bed, chair, and gurney. Occasional lifting and carrying equipment weighing up to 25 pounds. Occasional/intermittent pushing of gurneys, wheelchairs, bed and other medical equipment over tiled and carpeted surfaces. Continuous use of near vision to read medical equipment such as monitoring devices and reading documents and computer screens; hearing and verbal communication to interact with patients, co-workers, and other customers. #J-18808-Ljbffr International Executive Service Corps
