Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Cardiac Telemetry Duration: 13 Weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum of 2 years in a similar high-acuity unit License: Active state nursing license required Certifications: ACLS, BCLS, NIHSS Must-Have: Experience with telemetry and cardiac drips Ability to start IVs and manage pre/post procedure cardiac patients Description: This is a high-paced cardiac telemetry unit. Nurses will manage stable pre/post care for various cardiac procedures. Patients include those receiving pacemaker implantation, implanted cardioverter/defibrillators, and cardiac catheterization. The unit often cares for patients with unstable angina, low-risk chest pain, CHF, and dysrhythmias. Nurses will run multiple cardiac drips such as Cardizem, Dopamine, and Amiodarone. The expected nurse-to-patient ratio ranges from 1:5 to 1:6. Nurses should be comfortable taking a full load, especially during surge conditions. Candidates must be willing to float and work every other weekend, along with specific weekdays as required. The unit typically experiences a high turnover rate of patients, with 78 to 90 patient admissions/discharges each week. A team lead is available to assist with admissions and discharges. Special equipment used includes telemetry and pulse oximetry. Candidates will be required to manage patients on high-flow oxygen or Bipap, only under specific clinical conditions. Nurses must demonstrate the ability to interpret dysrhythmias and manage cardiac-related emergencies. The environment requires flexibility and the ability to adapt quickly to changing patient needs. All skills are essential and non-negotiable for this role.
