About the Position

Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Stepdown Cardiac Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 hours (18:45 - 07:15) Experience: Minimum 2 years in a similar unit with patient ratios and acuity License: Active state nursing license Certifications: ACLS BCLS NIH Must-Have: Experience with IV start and telemetry Experience with pre and post-procedure cardiac patients Knowledge of cardiac drips Ability to manage multiple patient assignments Description: This is a challenging and busy unit that requires the nurse to be comfortable managing a patient load of 5 to 6. The unit provides primary cardiac and stroke care, including stable pre and post-care for pacemaker implantation and catheterization. Nurses in this unit will care for patients undergoing various cardiac interventions. Patients may present with conditions such as unstable angina, low-risk chest pain, congestive heart failure, and dysrhythmias. Nurses will need to be comfortable running multiple drips, such as Cardizem, Dopamine, and Amiodarone. Candidates should be accustomed to a fast-paced environment with a high turnover rate, averaging 78 to 90 patients each week. Nurses will need to be available for weekend shifts, required every other weekend, plus additional Mondays and Fridays. Floating between units may be necessary based on patient census. Candidates must be able to pass EKG testing prior to starting this position.
