Entry-Level Mortgage Lending Associate

The Dedicated Lending SAFE Act is an entry-level position responsible for contributing to the formulation and implementation of long and short-term strategic plans to increase market share and maximize opportunities for growth throughout the marketplace. The position assists product specialists with qualified referrals for cross-sell and helps close deals across products while coordinating underwriting and credit practices. Responsibilities Deliver mortgage lending services to clients in consultation with assigned Home Lending Officer(s) covering all aspects of the loan application process, including collecting borrower information, consulting borrowers on mortgage options, quoting rates and terms from the system, and addressing follow-ups on the application and mortgage processing. Gather information from clients and third-party sources such as title companies and real estate agents, and apply judgment based on practice and precedence to determine needed items for submission to underwriting for approval. Monitor the application pipeline to ensure key dates (consent, lock, lock expiration, anticipated closing dates) are met and communicate with clients on requirements and timelines. Manage the marketing process for the supported Home Lending Officer, including marketing material management and follow-up on prospective customer leads, working open houses, realtor agent events, and training events. Partner with Operations teams to ensure the seamless transfer of the loan application to processors and gather any additional information needed by processors and/or underwriters. Manage customer inquiries and build and maintain relationships with the client book of work. Appropriately assess risk when making business decisions, demonstrating consideration for the firm's reputation and safeguarding Citigroup, its clients and assets by driving compliance with applicable laws, rules and regulations, adhering to policy, applying sound ethical judgment, and escalating, managing and reporting control issues with transparency. Qualifications 1–3 years of relevant experience in Mortgage/Loan Origination. Banking experience preferred. Consistently demonstrate clear and concise written and verbal communication. The position requires the employee to register as a mortgage loan originator with the Nationwide Mortgage Licensing System and Registry (“Registry”) and obtain a unique identifier before engaging in mortgage loan originator activities, maintaining and renewing registration annually, updating registration information timely, and providing the unique identifier to consumers as required by SAFE Act regulations and Citi policies. Education Bachelor’s or university degree, or high school diploma/equivalent with at least two years of relevant loan origination experience. Competencies Expert knowledge of general lending products and services and pricing alternatives in the industry. Ability to comprehend and explain financial calculations and pricing alternatives. Strong communication skills with customers about necessary documents and information needed to obtain a particular loan. Knowledge of laws and regulations that govern consumer lending, including fair lending, privacy, and RESPA. Self-starters who can work independently or with existing partnerships with a proven track record. Ability to work as part of a team to grow the assigned branch or community organization.
