• Position Type: Contract
• Contract Duration: 3 months
• Pay Rate: $55.00 / Hour (USD)
• Shift / Schedule: Night shift, 12-hour shifts (3x12); 18:45 07:15. 36 hours can be offered. Self-schedule that is then balanced/approved by a staffer. All missed shifts should be made up within the same week if possible; if not, time should be added to the end of the contract to make up the missed shift.
• Work Authorization: Applicants must be authorized to work for ANY employer in the U.S. We are unable to sponsor or take over sponsorship of an employment Visa at this time.

Job Summary

The Intermediate Critical Care Unit is an exciting unit that exists to provide specialized care for patients that include but are not limited to: DKA, Sickle Cell, Sepsis, Respiratory Distress, Pneumonia, Heart Failure, Stroke and stroke-like symptoms. The unit functions as a Rapid Response RN unit.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide specialized intermediate critical care nursing to patients presenting with diagnoses including DKA, Sickle Cell, Sepsis, Respiratory Distress, Pneumonia, Heart Failure, Stroke and stroke-like symptoms.
• Function as a Rapid Response RN as part of the unit's core operational model.
• Maintain a patient ratio of 1:4.
• Float as needed to Med Surg (1:6 ratio) per float requirements.
• Complete at least 4 weekend shifts per 6-week schedule.
• Operate and manage special equipment including Bipap, Cpap, and Optiflow.
• Utilize unit systems including PYXIS and EPIC.
• Adhere to all scheduling, call-off, and RTO policies as outlined by the facility.

• Recent ICU experience required
• Minimum 2 years of nursing experience
• IV Start
• Telemetry
• Cardiac Telemetry
• Titration of Cardiac Drips
• Use of Rapid Response Teams
• Feeding Tube and Management
• Heparin Protocols
• PCA
• CVA

Preferred Skills

• MS/Tele experience
• Titration of Vasoactive drips
• Care of Ventilated patients
• Wound Care / Wound Vac
• NIHSS certification

Education Requirements

• ACLS (required)
• BCLS (required)
• Must pass EKG Testing prior to start for this specialty

Required Experience

• Minimum 2 years of experience required
• Recent ICU experience required
• Unit will accept 1st time travelers
• Local candidates accepted

Work Environment / Physical Requirements

• Night shift: 12-hour shifts, 18:45 07:15 (3x12)
• 36 hours can be offered per week
• Patient ratio: 1:4 (IMC); 1:6 when floating to Med Surg
• Floating required as needed to Med Surg
• At least 4 weekend shifts per 6-week schedule
• Unit orientation: 36 hours
• Scrubs: All navy or Navy and White
• Flu vaccination required (medical/religious exemptions only)
• Special equipment in use: Bipap, Cpap, Optiflow
• Unit systems: PYXIS, EPIC

Important Notes

• RTO (Return to Origin) after booking is not allowed and is not allowed to be worked out onsite. Any call-offs or additional RTO on unit could possibly result in contract cancellation and DNR (Do Not Rehire).
• All missed shifts should be made up within the same week if possible; if not, time should be added to the end of the contract to make up the missed shift.
• Must pass EKG Testing prior to start for this specialty.
