Machine Builder

The Capital Equipment Builder is responsible for assembling complex capital equipment and machinery according to engineering specifications, quality standards, and safety requirements. This role requires a strong mechanical aptitude, the ability to interpret technical drawings and assembly instructions, and a commitment to producing high-quality equipment for customer delivery.

Responsibilities

• Assemble mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and electromechanical components into complete equipment systems.
• Read and interpret engineering drawings, schematics, bills of materials (BOMs), and work instructions.
• Install and align machine components, subassemblies, and support systems.
• Collaborate with Engineering, Quality, and Manufacturing teams to improve assembly processes.
• Document assembly activities, deviations, and test results as required.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment following company safety policies.
• Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance productivity, quality, and safety.

Essential Skills

• 3+ years of experience in machinery assembly, equipment building, manufacturing, or related field preferred.
• Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings, assembly prints, and schematics.
• Experience with pneumatic, hydraulic, and electrical systems is a plus.
• Strong mechanical troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
• Proficiency with hand tools, power tools, and precision measuring equipment.
• Basic computer skills for documentation and production tracking.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• High school diploma or GED required; technical certification or vocational training preferred.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Technical certification or vocational training preferred.
• Experience with pneumatic, hydraulic, and electrical systems is a plus.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of North Chicago, IL.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $35.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
