THE OPPORTUNITY Energy Renewal Partners (ERP) is looking for a full-time Project Manager to join our growing team, managing the environmental services and permitting work behind renewable energy projects across the U.S. — from early development through construction. We're looking for someone comfortable managing multidisciplinary technical teams, navigating regulatory processes, and delivering polished, defensible work that earns repeat client trust. WHAT YOU'LL DO Manage permitting processes for renewable energy projects, including state, local, and federal approvals, NEPA compliance, and Endangered Species Act / Clean Water Act consultations as applicable Manage multidisciplinary teams of environmental scientists, biologists, and cultural resources specialists delivering technical studies (e.g., biological surveys, wetland delineations, cultural resources assessments) in support of project development Review and QA/QC environmental studies, technical reports, and permitting deliverables — internal or third-party — for completeness, accuracy, and regulatory compliance Coordinate with regulatory agencies and other stakeholders to resolve permitting issues and keep projects moving toward approval Manage cross-functional project teams to deliver on scope, schedule, and budget across all phases of project development Prepare and manage proposals, budgets, schedules, and scopes of work for individual projects and multi-project engagements Track project risks, timelines, and deliverables across multiple concurrent engagements, escalating issues early Mentor and train less experienced team members on the technical and business aspects of environmental services and project management Support due diligence reviews during acquisitions and divestments — including site control, environmental studies, permitting records, and land entitlements — flagging critical issues as needed Serve as the client-facing lead, presenting reports and recommendations clearly and proactively surfacing opportunities and risks throughout a project's lifecycle Help identify new client opportunities, lead proposal development, and support contract preparation and negotiations for environmental services and permitting engagements Build client relationships that lead to repeat engagements and referrals for ERP Represent ERP and share market/regulatory intelligence at industry events and with leadership. WHAT YOU'LL BRING Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree in archaeology, biology, environmental science, ecology, geography, geology, or a related field 7-10+ years of experience in environmental permitting, regulatory compliance, or natural resources consulting; renewable energy experience strongly preferred Familiarity with NEPA, the Endangered Species Act, Clean Water Act Section 404/401, Bald and Golden Eagle Protection Act or state-level permitting frameworks Demonstrated experience managing multidisciplinary technical teams and client relationships, with ability to travel occasionally for site visits and agency or client meetings Outstanding attention to detail and a high-quality bar for work Excellent writing, communication, and client-facing presentation skills A curious, energetic self-starter mindset that anticipates and resolves problems before being asked Ability to manage and prioritize multiple competing tasks and deadlines while balancing technical rigor with commercial considerations Preferred Qualifications Came up through the technical route — e.g., started as an Environmental Scientist, Biologist, or similar field role before moving into project management Master's degree in a related field Direct experience permitting solar, wind, storage, or transmission projects Due diligence or M&A support experience in a renewable energy or infrastructure context COMPENSATION & BENEFITS Actual offers are determined by a candidate's skills, experience, and internal pay equity.
