Wastewater Collection & Treatment Group Lead

Job : Wastewater Collection & Treatment Group Lead Location : Lenexa, KS (preferred). Will consider candidates in Omaha, NE, Chesterfield, MO, and Austin, TX. GBA is seeking a Wastewater Collection & Treatment Group Lead to provide leadership across our wastewater treatment practice, supporting project delivery, technical excellence, team development, and strategic growth. Our Water Environment teams partner with municipalities and public utilities to improve wastewater treatment systems, modernize aging infrastructure, and help communities address long-term environmental and regulatory challenges. This role combines people leadership, operational oversight, technical guidance, and client relationship management. What You’ll Do Lead and support wastewater treatment teams across project delivery, staffing, and technical execution Provide oversight and direction for complex wastewater treatment and infrastructure projects Support project managers and technical leaders in scope, schedule, quality, and client management Mentor and develop engineering staff, supporting career growth and technical development Partner with market and operations leadership on resource planning, workload balancing, and team growth Build and strengthen relationships with municipal clients, utility leaders, and industry partners Support business development efforts, including client engagement, strategic pursuits, and proposal development Help drive consistency in engineering standards, project delivery practices, and quality expectations Collaborate across offices and disciplines to support integrated project delivery and market growth Contribute to strategic planning, operational improvement initiatives, and long-term practice development. Ideal Candidate You are an experienced wastewater leader who enjoys developing teams, building client relationships, and helping organizations grow while maintaining strong technical and operational performance. You likely: Bachelors degree in Civil Engineering or related field. Holds a Professional Engineer (PE) license. Have significant experience in wastewater treatment and municipal infrastructure projects Enjoy leading teams and mentoring engineers and project managers Understand both technical project delivery and operational leadership responsibilities Build strong, trusted relationships with municipal clients and internal teams Think strategically about staffing, project execution, and long-term market growth Are comfortable balancing leadership, client engagement, and technical oversight Why This Role Matters You will play a key leadership role in shaping the future of GBA’s wastewater treatment practice by helping develop people, strengthen client relationships, support operational performance, and guide delivery of critical infrastructure projects that serve communities across the regions we support. Physical Requirements & Work Environment Ability to work on a computer for extended periods. Ability to sit, stand, and walk project sites for prolonged periods. Potential need to be able to travel to job sites occasionally (minimum once per month).
