Per Diem Medical Assistant / Patient Care Coordinator

Position Information Position performs medical, technical, and administrative support services to contribute to the efficient day‑to‑day operations, ensuring a positive patient experience. Duties include escorting patients to exam rooms, taking and recording vital signs and medical histories, preparing patients for examination, assisting in procedures, and other duties as directed by the physician. Administrative support comprises scheduling patient appointments in coordination with provider availability, managing in‑basket and incoming faxes, interacting with patients in person and on the phone, answering clinic phone, collecting patient information, updating and maintaining electronic records, insurance verification and patient prior authorization, ensuring clinic inventory, and performing clerical tasks. The position will be primarily assigned to a work location, primarily the Riverside, CA clinic, but may also float as needed to other UCR Health clinic locations. The role may require work in various shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays. The full salary range for the Per Diem Medical Assistant / Patient Care Coordinator is $29.77 per hour. Salary offers are based on education, licensure, certifications, experience, and other business and organizational needs. Applicants must have current work authorization when accepting a UCR staff position. The University is currently unable to sponsor or take over sponsorship of an employment Visa for staff. Federal, state, or local government directives may impose additional requirements. Requirements Educational Requirements Medical Assistant Diploma. Experience Requirements Experience working in an environment performing front and back office duties related to this position. Experience using standard exam room medical equipment and computers. Experience working in a women's health, primary care, or multi‑specialty clinic. Minimum Requirements Understanding of medical terminology. Must demonstrate customer service skills appropriate to the job. Familiarity with universal precautions, handling of bio‑hazardous waste, specimen identification and transport. Must possess the skill, knowledge, and ability essential to the successful performance of assigned duties. Ability to maintain a work pace appropriate to the workload. Ability to work well in a constantly changing environment. Strong oral and written communication skills to effectively communicate with patients of varying ages and multicultural backgrounds.
