Overview Math Teacher - Excel Center University Heights. Base pay range: $48,000.00/yr - $60,000.00/yr. This position is located on the southeast side of Indianapolis. Work days and hours: school days are 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM; Mondays through Thursdays are instructional and Fridays are flexible/preparatory days. The general salary range for this position is $48-$60K. Recruiting & Compensation Director @ Goodwill | Human Resources Professional Goodwill Education Initiatives operates The Excel Center, a tuition-free public high school for adults offering an Indiana Core 40 diploma. Goodwill strongly believes in raising education attainment levels in Indiana and offers opportunities for adults (The Excel Center) and youth (Indianapolis Metropolitan High School). Responsibilities Designs and implements curricula and assessments that meet academic standards and measure progress towards student mastery of the Indiana Academic Standards, Common Core State Standards, and 21st Century Skills. Builds lessons around student needs, including online learning tools and content. Identifies and tracks relevant student/school data and staff performance to set improvement and achievement goals and to guide evaluation and feedback. Builds solid relationships with students and communicates progress to students and colleagues; partners with staff to ensure student success. Communicates strengths and areas for improvement and uses restorative approaches to resolve conflict. Develops personal professional/performance goals and action plans; reflects on prior goals and adjusts professional practice. collaborates with the school director to develop and implement school-wide goals around graduation outcomes, enrollment needs, student achievement, retention, etc. Works with coaches and leadership to aid students’ progress toward graduation and postsecondary planning. Assists staff with professional development, training, and goal setting. Sets and maintains a high-performance culture for staff and students. Participates in student recruitment, enrollment, and outreach efforts. Supports the school community by attending events and outreach opportunities. Performs other duties as needed as assigned by school leadership. Qualifications Degree and Credential Requirements - Bachelor’s degree in subject specialty and a current Indiana Teaching Certification in the subject specialty, or willingness to obtain an emergency teaching license. Instructional Strategies - Uses a variety of approaches and channels to instruct and engage students; adapts to learners’ needs and prioritizes student achievement. Communication Skills - Articulates thoughts clearly in oral, written, visual and non-verbal forms; effective in person and digital communication. Information Monitoring/Reporting - Collects and reviews information to manage or improve learning goals. Teamwork - Collaborates effectively in a team to create a positive learning environment and shared outcomes. Adaptability - Maintains effectiveness when priorities shift and sustains a positive learning environment. Preferred Requirements Industry Standards - Working knowledge of Indiana Academic Standards, Common Core, 21st Century Skills, and disciplinary literacy. Teaching Expertise - Plans and delivers instruction and evaluation of student learning, ideally for high school-age students in nontraditional and/or adult education settings. Technical Knowledge – Proficient with G Suite, MS Office, and student information systems. Other Requirements Background Screening - All candidates must pass a pre-employment background check.
