Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant, General Thoracic Surgery- University Hospital We are now hiring for a Nurse Practitioner or a Physician Assistant to join our General Thoracic Surgery Service located at University Hospital in Indianapolis, Indiana. Full-time, M-F position Currently no weekends or holidays No Call Procedures: Assisting in thoracic surgery cases, andchest tube placement. Job Description and Key Responsibilities: Outpatient Setting- APP provides clinic coverage, conducting preoperative evaluations, postoperative follow-up visits, and ongoing patient management while collaborating closely with surgeons and other care team members to develop and implement individualized treatment plans. Inpatient Setting- APP manages the continuum of surgical care through daily patient rounds, postoperative assessment and management, coordination of care, discharge planning, and performance of bedside procedures, including chest tube management and wound care. APP serves as a key clinical resource, ensuring timely communication among patients, families consulting services, and the healthcare team. Operating Room- APP functions as a first assist in a variety of general thoracic surgical procedures, with a primary focus on robotic-assisted thoracic surgery. Responsibilities include assisting with operative exposure, tissue handling, robotic case support, and other intraoperative duties that contribute to safe and efficient surgical outcomes. This role will require strong clinical judgement, excellent communication skills, and the ability to practice both independently and collaboratively within a fast-paced, multidisciplinary environment dedicated to delivering exceptional patient car e. Qualifications: Master's Degree Required ACNP, FNP, PA certification Required We welcome both Experienced APP's and New Grads who have completed meaningful clinical rotations in thoracic surgery, cardiovascular surgery, critical care, or related specialties Prior APP experience is preferred but not required Candidates with experience caring for cardiac, thoracic, surgical, or critically ill patients in high acuity inpatient settings are strongly encouraged to apply.
