RN Medical Surgical Telemetry Float Pool

Job Summary:

The Hawaii Float Pool Registered Nurse (RN) at Kona Community Hospital is responsible for providing skilled nursing care across multiple units including medical-surgical, telemetry, ICU overflow, and emergency department. The RN will float between units to manage patient care effectively, ensuring quality treatment and collaboration with the interdisciplinary team. Strong clinical skills, EPIC system experience, and the ability to work night shifts in a fast-paced environment are essential. Responsibilities:

• Provide nursing care to patients in medical-surgical, telemetry, ICU overflow, and emergency department units.
• Float between units as assigned to support patient care needs and unit staffing.
• Perform patient assessments, medication administration, and treatment planning.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams to coordinate patient care.
• Utilize EPIC electronic health record system for documentation and communication.
• Respond to patient emergencies and provide appropriate interventions.
• Maintain compliance with hospital policies, procedures, and quality standards.

Required Skills & Certifications:

• Active Registered Nurse license in the state of Hawaii.
• Minimum of 3 years nursing experience, preferably in medical-surgical, telemetry, ICU, or emergency settings.
• Proficiency with EPIC electronic health record system.
• Strong clinical assessment and medication administration skills.
• Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic healthcare environment.

Preferred Skills & Certifications:

• Experience working in float pool or multi-unit nursing roles.
• Previous experience in critical care or emergency department nursing.
• Bachelor's degree in Nursing or related field.

Special Considerations:

• Must be able to float between multiple units including medical-surgical, telemetry, ICU overflow, and emergency department.
• Night shift work required.
• Ability to manage high patient acuity and rapidly changing clinical situations.

Scheduling:

• 72 hours scheduled every two weeks.
• Night shift schedule.
• Shift assignments based on unit needs and float pool requirements.
