Join a dedicated healthcare team in the heart of the Midwest region as a Student Nurse Intern. Under the guidance of a licensed nurse, you will engage in a variety of patient care activities tailored to different age groups and developmental needs. This role offers hands-on experience in supporting patients with daily living activities, hygiene, skin care, mobility, nutrition, and vital sign monitoring.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Assist patients with daily hygiene including bathing, hair care, oral hygiene, and grooming.
• Provide skin care and take precautions to prevent skin breakdown.
• Support physical activities such as repositioning, ambulation, range of motion exercises, and transfers.
• Help meet nutritional needs by preparing patients for meals, assisting with feeding, and monitoring dietary restrictions.
• Collect specimens, perform vital signs, and document intake and output accurately.
• Perform sit baths, postmortem care, and apply therapeutic devices like TED hose and ice packs.
• Lead and encourage participation in performance improvement initiatives.
• Carry out technical nursing procedures under supervision, including oxygen therapy, catheter insertion/removal, intravenous therapy discontinuation, suctioning, dressing changes, wound care, injections, and NG tube maintenance.
• Educate patients and families in collaboration with the primary nurse.
• Maintain clear communication with the healthcare team and promptly report any changes in patient condition.
• Document all patient care activities thoroughly and accurately in medical records.

Education: Currently enrolled in a nursing program or completed nursing education but not yet licensed.

Experience: Entry-level position; no prior experience required.

Certification/License: Not applicable.

Mental/Physical Requirements: Requires significant mental focus, frequent walking, lifting, turning, and other physical activities such as pushing, pulling, stooping, and reaching.

Working Conditions: Exposure to infectious diseases, radiation, and potentially hostile situations may occur. Frequent contact with blood and bodily fluids is expected. Minimal physical discomfort is typical.
