Accountant

Job Title: General Ledger Accountant Location: Ashburn VA Onsite 3 days week Job Type: contract W2 Rate $40- 50 hr Jefferson Wells is seeking a detail-oriented and experienced General Ledger (GL) Accountant to join our client’s finance team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in accounting principles, month-end close processes, reconciliations, and journal entries—particularly in a manufacturing and inventory-focused environment. Key Responsibilities: Manage and execute month-end and year-end close processes, ensuring deadlines are met and accuracy is maintained. Prepare and post journal entries, accruals, and adjustments in accordance with GAAP. Perform general ledger account reconciliations and resolve discrepancies in a timely manner. Handle intercompany transactions and reconciliations across multiple entities. Support inventory accounting, including cost of goods sold (COGS) analysis, inventory valuation, and cycle count adjustments. Collaborate with the manufacturing and operations teams to ensure accurate reporting of production costs and inventory levels. Assist in financial audits by providing necessary documentation and support. Contribute to process improvements and ensure internal controls are followed. Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field. 3+ years of accounting experience, preferably in a manufacturing environment. Solid understanding of US GAAP and general accounting principles. Experience with inventory accounting and cost accounting preferred. Proficient in Microsoft Excel and ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, NetSuite). Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills. Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
