Senior Substation Engineer - Physical Design

Job Title Senior Substation Engineer - Physical Design Location Austin, TX Job Type Hybrid Responsibilities Design high voltage substation physical layouts up to 500 kV. Create and modify single line diagrams and general arrangements. Prepare detailed elevation and section views. Develop detailed assembly and installation details and bills of materials. Coordinate with other disciplines and conduct site visits for data gathering and as-built documentation. Write and evaluate contractor bids and construction specifications. Perform factory acceptance and shop drawing reviews to ensure design specification compliance. Verify client equipment and design specifications against industry standards. Perform engineering calculations including equipment sizing, bus strength, insulation coordination, grounding, and lightning protection. Generate engineering fee estimates and provide field support during construction and commissioning. Mentor and train less experienced engineers and design staff. Travel overnight for client meetings or site visits as required. Required Qualifications B.S. from an ABET-accredited university. 10+ years of substation physical design experience. Experience working directly with clients and supporting marketing proposals preferred. Experience managing design budgets and schedules preferred. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Legal authorization to work in the United States for any duration. PE license required; ability to obtain Texas PE within six months of hire.
