Job Summary

A well-established litigation firm in Tampa, FL is seeking a motivated Associate Attorney to join its growing defense litigation team. This direct hire opportunity is ideal for an attorney with experience in general liability, professional liability, or medical malpractice defense who is ready to manage complex cases in a collaborative, client-focused environment.

The Associate Attorney will work closely with senior attorneys and partners while gaining meaningful litigation experience across pleadings, discovery, depositions, motion practice, hearings, mediations, arbitrations, and trial preparation. Key Responsibilities

- Manage all phases of litigation for general liability, professional liability, and related defense matters.
- Draft pleadings, discovery, motions, memoranda, correspondence, and other legal documents.
- Conduct legal research and develop case strategies in partnership with senior attorneys and partners.
- Handle depositions, court appearances, mediations, arbitrations, and trial preparation.
- Communicate professionally with clients, opposing counsel, insurance carriers, experts, and internal team members.
- Maintain active caseloads while meeting deadlines in a fast-paced litigation environment.

Compensation and Benefits

- Salary range: $140,000 to $200,000 per year.
- Quarterly bonus and year-end bonus opportunity.

Required Qualifications and Skills

- Manage litigation matters from initial pleadings through discovery, motions, depositions, hearings, and trial preparation.
- Represent clients in court appearances, mediations, arbitrations, and other litigation proceedings.
- Develop litigation strategy and work closely with senior attorneys and partners.
- Communicate with clients, insurance carriers, opposing counsel, and other case stakeholders.
- J.D. from an accredited law school.
- Active license in good standing to practice law.
- 2 to 8 years of experience in general liability defense, professional liability defense, or related litigation.
- Strong legal research, analytical, drafting, and writing skills.
- Excellent communication, advocacy, negotiation, and client service skills.
- Ability to manage multiple cases, prioritize deadlines, and work effectively in a fast-paced legal environment.
- Professional judgment, attention to detail, and a team-oriented approach.

Preferred Qualifications

- Medical malpractice defense experience.
- Experience working with insurance carriers or handling insured defense matters.
- Deposition, motion practice, mediation, arbitration, or trial preparation experience.
- Prior experience managing a litigation caseload with increasing independence.
