Provide instruction that fosters moral values, pride of accomplishment, acceptable social behavior, self‑discipline, self‑confidence, and sportsmanship. Implements quality principles and tools to improve program effectiveness. Qualifications Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities Knowledge of sports and rules. Proper care of injuries and injury prevention. Convey knowledge of sports. Understanding and abiding by sport rules and regulations. Consistency with philosophy and ethics. Certification/Licensure Appropriate BOEE licensure. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Coaching performance and interpersonal relations: promote sportsmanship at events and practices; prepare and implement practice plans and set yearly goals for each team and program. Team preparation in mechanics, emotional readiness and skill development. Show concern for safety and well‑being of athletes and command respect. Cooperate with other coaches and respect other sports and programs. Maintain positive, encouraging and constructive relationships with athletes; establish consistent discipline; demonstrate concern for athletes’ academic program. Inform student‑athletes of hazards and proper equipment use. Acknowledge student achievement. Management: develop eligibility lists, equipment needs, and program information; require all athletes to complete pre‑participation requirements; punctuality and accurate record‑keeping; comply with Athletic Department policy. Professional responsibilities: supervise team members, coordinate contests and events, cooperate with staff, participate in professional meetings, provide public relations. Physical Requirements Repetitive bending, lifting, and hand movement. Ability to work while standing, moving, and/or walking. No drug, tobacco, or alcohol usage while working. Normal vision and hearing or with corrective lenses. Ability to operate a motor vehicle for travel. Terms of Employment Per Board Policies and the UEA Master Contract. Contract as determined by sport and season dates. Performance evaluated per Board Policy.
