Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced HVAC Service Technician Level III to lead and perform complex installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair activities for commercial and industrial HVAC and refrigeration systems. The ideal candidate will have at least 5 years of relevant experience, advanced technical knowledge, and the ability to independently diagnose complex equipment issues, coordinate service activities, and provide technical guidance to other technicians.

Key Responsibilities

Install, service, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair commercial and industrial HVAC and refrigeration systems.

Lead complex installation and repair activities involving compressors, condensers, evaporators, ductwork, piping, and associated equipment.

Interpret blueprints, engineering specifications, equipment diagrams, and technical documentation to plan and execute service work.

Fabricate, assemble, and install ductwork, refrigeration piping, and HVAC components using appropriate tools and equipment.

Install, test, and troubleshoot electrical components, motors, compressors, thermostats, control panels, switches, breakers, and wiring.

Diagnose complex mechanical, electrical, and refrigeration system failures and determine appropriate corrective actions.

Test refrigerant circuits, inspect joints and connections for leaks, verify system pressures, and confirm efficient equipment operation.

Perform system startup, operational testing, preventive maintenance, and performance adjustments.

Replace defective components and recommend repairs or equipment improvements to improve system reliability.

Work on larger-capacity HVAC equipment, including systems ranging from 15 to 150 tons where applicable.

Provide technical direction and guidance to less experienced technicians and help coordinate daily service activities.

Ensure work is completed in accordance with safety procedures, technical specifications, and applicable industry standards.

Identify potential service issues, recommend solutions, and support effective troubleshooting and problem resolution.

Maintain professional communication with team members and other stakeholders.

Perform additional related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Apprenticeship certification with a Journeyman HVAC License, or equivalent qualifications.

At least 5 years of HVAC service, installation, maintenance, or repair experience.

Advanced knowledge of refrigeration theory, HVAC systems, piping, ductwork, and electrical controls.

Proven ability to diagnose and resolve complex HVAC equipment problems independently.

Ability to read and interpret blueprints, engineering specifications, wiring diagrams, and technical documentation.

Experience with HVAC testing equipment, diagnostic tools, refrigerant systems, and electrical troubleshooting.

Ability to plan and execute complicated service tasks with minimal supervision.

Demonstrated ability to provide technical guidance and lead the work of other technicians.

Strong analytical, problem-solving, organizational, and communication skills.

Physical Requirements

Frequently climb, stoop, kneel, crouch, reach, and work in varying positions.

Frequently handle tools, equipment, and HVAC components.

Frequently use hands and fingers for installation, repair, and diagnostic tasks.

Frequently work outdoors and encounter vibration, dust, and fumes.

Occasionally work in extreme temperatures, wet or humid conditions, elevated locations, and areas with potential electrical hazards.

Ability to lift and carry tools, parts, and equipment as required by the job.

Work Environment

This position involves working at commercial and industrial facilities, including indoor and outdoor environments. Technicians may be exposed to moving mechanical equipment, dust, fumes, vibration, changing weather conditions, and occasional electrical hazards. Appropriate safety procedures and personal protective equipment must be followed.
