Job Title: Instructional Designer, Training Curriculum Development Job Location: Livermore, CA Location & Travel Submit local candidates only – Bay Area. Assignment is hybrid; may need to go onsite 2-3 times a week to SF, Livermore, San Ramon, Oakland or Daly City as project needs. Company laptop, docking station and charger provided. Any additional equipment needed (e.g., ergonomic chair) will be supplied by vendor. PPE will be provided by client. Manager will approve mileage, per diem meals, and lodging if required to be expensed. Top Things Looking For Experience with technical training (instructor‑led, not e‑learning) Proficiency with MS Office tools (PPT) Experience with creating job aids and technical writing skills Top Skill Sets Looking For Excellent communication, writing and time management skills Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines Strong stakeholder engagement Self‑motivated and adaptable Responsibilities Design and develop instructor‑led and on‑the‑job training for apprenticeships in the utilities industry Leverage and apply established instructional design methodologies to assess stakeholder needs, analyze complex content, and evaluate delivered training Develop learning materials for technical content, including hands‑on practice activities, student guides, facilitator guides, scenarios, videos, assessments, simulations, and other instructional media Perform a detailed task analysis for each job function, business process, or system for which training will be developed Partner with cross‑functional teams to conceptualize training design and content Define learning objectives and course structure aligned to stakeholder needs and to meet the constraints of the learning environment Work under the direction of the Senior Instructional Designer to apply company standards, guidelines, and templates Write clear and effective instructional text, audio, or video scripts appropriate for the target audience Participate in milestone meetings with subject matter experts, including task analysis, alpha, beta, and train the trainer sessions Engage with subject matter experts for ongoing content review and validation Receive and incorporate feedback Self‑manage assigned tasks and deadlines to complete deliverables Proactively communicate issues and risks Required Skills 3 years’ experience developing instructor‑led training and on‑the‑job tasks for technical skills Knowledge of adult learning theory and instructional design and methodologies Proven experience performing task analysis Strong knowledge of PowerPoint, Word, Excel, and Teams Demonstrated ability to execute and deliver against multiple competing deadlines, as needed Desired Skills Experience developing multi‑year technical training programs for adult learners Experience with QuestionMark, Author‑It, and/or Storyline Client Academy experience a plus Key Competencies Excellent analysis skills Strategic thinking and time management Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines Strong communication and stakeholder engagement Attention to detail and commitment to quality Self‑motivated and adaptable in a fast‑paced environment Ampcus is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
