Key Accountabilities Organizes and ensures availability of materials, tools, and equipment necessary for crew operations. Coordinates workplace protection (RWP) for safety compliance. Prepares detailed documentation of inspections, including labor, materials, equipment, and supplies. Collaborates with Operations, Third-Party Contractors, and public agencies to ensure smooth coordination. Inspects work methods and site conditions to ensure safety, efficiency, and optimal use of labor and materials. Ensures compliance with all contractual obligations, regulatory requirements, company procedures, and budget constraints. Proactively addresses issues, responds to emerging situations, and manages extraordinary conditions effectively. Develops and maintains relevant maintenance procedures to support operational efficiency. Trains employees in proper work methods and best practices. Oversees development and management of overall maintenance budget. Actively participates in work activities, balancing hands‑on involvement with supervisory responsibilities. Skills, Knowledge, & Experience A minimum of ten (10) years of experience in railroad freight and commuter Maintenance of Way operations. At least seven (7) years of experience managing Maintenance of Way crews. Previous qualification with a railroad to provide workplace protection (49 CFR 214). Strong leadership and interpersonal skills, with a demonstrated ability to foster and promote a safety‑first culture. Excellent oral and written communication skills, with the ability to clearly convey information at all levels. Proficient in computer applications, including the MS Office Suite. Proven record‑keeping abilities, in compliance with federal and company regulations. Capable of working under tight deadlines and maintaining composure in high‑pressure or emergency situations. Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions, walk at least 1 mile over tracks, lift a minimum of 50 lbs, distinguish colors, hear warning signals, and use communication devices (radio, telephone). Flexible to work shifts and be on call as needed. High School Diploma or GED required. Must possess a valid driver’s license.
