Technician

Job Title

Pitch Aeronautics builds WireWarrior weather sensors and installs them on transmission lines with Astria, our own install drone. You'll spend your time on assembly, maintenance, and prep work for drones and weather sensors.

About Pitch Aeronautics Inc.

Pitch Aeronautics is a rapidly growing startup creating game-changing solutions for the utility industry. Pitch has developed a drone to install our line sensor, bird diverters, and other equipment on power lines. Our drone-deployable line sensors wirelessly transmit environmental and line characteristics to an online secure API to help utilities push more power through existing lines, prevent wildfires, and improve grid reliability.

At Pitch we've fostered a collaborative, fun, "get-stuff-done" working environment. We believe in moving fast and creating products and prototypes rapidly. If you're looking for a place where you can make a difference on day one, be empowered to achieve, and love working in small teams, we want to meet you!

Description

This role is built to grow. There are three optional paths:

• Flight Ops Track: come on as a technician, get trained up, and join the flight ops and pilot crew.
• Engineering Track: come on as a technician while you pursue an engineering degree. As you move toward your junior year, shift toward lighter tech work and more intern-level engineering projects, with the potential to join full-time as an engineer after graduation.
• Lead Technician Track: grow your technician skills across all our products and move into a leadership role overseeing and mentoring other technicians.

If you're curious how things work, like to build, and want to learn from engineers who'll give you real responsibility, we'd love to hear from you.

Responsibilities

• Assemble WireWarrior sensors and Astria drone subassemblies following work instructions closely.
• Perform routine drone maintenance: inspections, part swaps, battery charging and logging, and pre- and post-flight prep.
• Prepare sensors, clamps, and equipment kits for field installs and shipping.
• Use hand and shop tools (drill press, saws, small power tools) to build fixtures and simple parts.
• Help set up and record data for test-stand runs and product tests (pressure, vibration, environmental).
• Keep the shop organized and help receive and track parts.
• Write clear step-by-step notes on assembly and maintenance tasks that engineers can review and formalize.
• Give structured feedback on the platform: what works, what doesn't, and why, with suggestions for improvement.

Minimum Qualifications

• Some soldering familiarity.
• Comfort with hand and power tools (e.g., drill press).
• Mechanical intuition and the ability to follow assembly instructions closely.
• Strong communication skills: comfortable giving and receiving feedback in a professional setting.
• Reliable, consistent, and detail-oriented.
• Coachable and eager to learn, and willing to do the small stuff while working toward bigger opportunities.
• Able to work on-site in Boise.

Desired Qualifications

• Currently pursuing, or headed toward, an engineering or mechanical degree. (we are open to part-time roles for current students)
• General exposure to basic manufacturing or machining processes (an intro university design or shop course is plenty).
• CAD familiarity.
• Prior hands-on experience: robotics club, FIRST Robotics, car work, or personal projects.
• Interest in aviation or drones.
• Adaptable in a startup environment where priorities can shift quickly.

Benefits

• 120 hrs of paid time off
• Health Insurance
• Dental & Vision Insurance
• Short-term disability insurance
• Long-term disability insurance
• Health Savings Account (HSA)
• Flexible Spending Account (FSA)
• Paid holidays
