Transportation Construction Inspector

DESCRIPTION OF WORK This position supports the quality and safety of highway construction work by inspecting materials, workmanship, and project progress. It plays an essential role in ensuring that each project meets approved codes and standards. As a Transportation Construction Inspector, you will perform the following duties: * Construction Inspection: Inspect phases of transportation construction work and review placement of materials * Field Measurements: Check grades, elevations, and project stake-out with surveyors or contractors * Project Documentation: Complete diaries, calculations, quantity estimates, and reports using manual or electronic methods * Problem Solving: Assist in resolving field issues and confirm work compliance with regulations and procedures * Communication Duties: Interact with staff, agencies, and the public to support effective project administration * Quality Tracking: Review sketches, photographs, and inspection summaries to monitor progress and materials Interested in learning more? Work Schedule and Additional Information: * Full-time employment * Work hours are 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch. * This position has a flex schedule which is vendor controlled * This position will cover projects in Wyoming County * Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) AD-HOC outside of construction season, as needed. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Dunmore. The ability to telework is subject to change at any time. REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY QUALIFICATIONS Minimum Experience and Training Requirements: * One year as an Engineering Technician (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); or * Two years as a Transportation Technician or Construction Cost Technician 1 (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); or * Three years of experience in highway or bridge surveying, design, construction, or inspection work; or * Three years of experience in quality control of materials or building or construction industry experience, which includes reading and interpreting blueprints, plans, or schematics; or * One year of construction inspection experience, and an associate's degree in civil engineering, mechanical engineering, geotechnical engineering, surveying engineering technology, or a closely related engineering technology; or * An equivalent combination of experience and training. Special Requirements: * This position requires possession of an active non-commercial Pennsylvania Class C Driver's License or equivalent.
