Strong candidates for this position will have the expertise, knowledge, and skills to build their research, pedagogy, and curriculum in ways that reflect and enhance this commitment.The in the College of Social Sciences and Humanities at Northeastern University seek to fill a non-tenure-track job opening for an Assistant Teaching Professor, Associate Teaching Professor, or Full Teaching Professor in the area of AI Ethics.This is an academic year teaching faculty position with opportunities for promotion through an established track from Assistant Teaching Professor to Associate Teaching Professor to Full Teaching Professor. Reappointment letters are issued prior to July 1 of the applicable year.This is a full time, benefits-eligible position with an expected start date of August 17, 2026. The position will be on Northeastern’s Boston campus.**Responsibilities:**Duties include a teaching load of six courses for the academic year (three courses in each semester), including Responsible AI, Technology and Human Values, AI Ethics, AI and Society, and related courses.Student advising, professional development, and service are also expected.**Qualifications**:* Ph.D. in Philosophy, Science and Technology Studies or a related field in hand by the employment start date is required.* The successful candidate will have a strong scholarly record on ethical issues related to the design and use of AI-based technologies, including but not limited to AI, big data analytics, and robotics; a demonstrated commitment to excellence in undergraduate teaching; and preparation to work with global student populations.* Candidates seeking appointment at the Associate Teaching Professor level should already hold a position at the rank of Associate Teaching Professor or have a comparable level of experience.
