Source One is a consulting services company and we’re currently looking for the following individual to work as a consultant to our client, an innovative autonomous vehicle ride-hailing company in Hayward, CA.

Title: Quality Engineer (Contract)

Pay Rate: $76.54/hour (W-2) plus benefits

About the Role: Our client is seeking a Quality Engineer to play a critical role in ensuring production quality, vehicle readiness, and continuous improvement across manufacturing and fleet operations. In this position, you will collaborate with Quality, Manufacturing, Engineering, Supplier Quality, and Fleet Operations teams to ensure vehicles released into service meet design specifications, functional requirements, customer expectations, and documentation standards. Responsibilities

- Manage quality issues identified during production quality audits and vehicle release activities by driving containment, root cause analysis, corrective actions, and issue closure.

- Support the diagnosis and resolution of Noise, Vibration, and Harshness (NVH) concerns identified during Rider Quality Audits and Engineering Fleet Review (EFR) processes.

- Develop standardized NVH inspection methods and define the tools required for consistent evaluation.

- Lead continuous improvement initiatives to increase the effectiveness and efficiency of production quality audits, EFR activities, and issue-resolution processes.

- Collaborate cross-functionally with Supplier Quality, Manufacturing, Vehicle Development, and Fleet Operations to resolve systemic product and process issues.

- Support the development and review of Process Failure Mode and Effects Analyses (PFMEAs) and Control Plans to strengthen manufacturing controls and risk mitigation.

- Analyze technical findings, communicate results clearly, and drive quality issues through successful resolution.

Required Qualifications

- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related discipline.

- 4–6 years of experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably within automotive, aviation, or contract manufacturing.

- Proven experience applying advanced problem-solving methodologies such as Shainin Red X, Six Sigma Green Belt, or Six Sigma Black Belt.

- Demonstrated success implementing systemic quality improvements across manufacturing operations.

- Strong analytical, organizational, planning, negotiation, and decision-making skills.

- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

- Ability to work independently while managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Preferred Qualifications

- Experience working for an Automotive OEM or Tier 1 supplier.

- Proficiency with quality management and enterprise systems such as SAP, MES, JIRA, or similar platforms for reporting and analysis.

- ASQ Certified Quality Engineer (CQE) certification or Six Sigma Black Belt certification.
