# Job Opportunity – Registered Nurse, Medical-Surgical / Step-Down – North Carolina**Start Date:** August 24, 2026 **Location:** Western North Carolina **Compensation:** Details provided to qualified applicants **Schedule:** Every other weekend required; holiday rotation; no on-call requirements**Highlights:** - 40-bed Clinical Decision/Direct Admit Unit focused on emergency department decompression and enhanced throughput- Patient ratios of 1:5 for Step-Down patients, 1:6 for Med-Surg patients, or 1:5 for combined assignments- Cerner documentation system with Baxter IV pumps- Wide variety of patient diagnoses requiring well-rounded clinical background- Opportunities for additional roles including Central Monitoring Unit Telemetry and ED Transport positions- Navy blue/white dress code; goal staffing includes free charge nurse with 1-2 CNAs based on volume**Requirements:** - Minimum 2 years recent Medical-Surgical, Telemetry (remote), and Step-Down (PCU) experience preferred- BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required- Positive attitude with strong focus on teamwork in a fast-paced, quick-turnover environment- Willingness to float to other units within skill set as needed- Charge Nurse experience or willingness to consider this role appreciated**Why It's a Great Opportunity:** This unit specializes in receiving admitted patients from the emergency department, completing admission assessments, medication reconciliation, and initiating acute care orders to reduce overall length of stay and enhance the patient experience.
