Job Opportunity: Pediatrician

Our organization is a physician-led multispecialty group with over 650 providers, currently in search of a board-certified or board-eligible physician (MD/DO) who is dedicated to a collaborative, multidisciplinary approach to healthcare. This role will involve a hybrid position as a Pediatrician, dividing time between an outpatient clinic and the Newbornist service. Join a well-established practice consisting of six physicians and three advanced practice providers, delivering exceptional care in a supportive environment, alongside our expanding inpatient pediatric hospitalist team focused on newborns and their families at our Boise facility.

Our child-friendly clinic is situated on the grounds of the regional Level II Trauma Center, providing easy access to Pediatric GI, laboratory services, radiology, and more.

Position Details

This is a full-time role, with 0.5 FTE dedicated to the Pediatric Clinic and 0.5 FTE as a Pediatric Hospitalist. The staffing model includes:

• Newborn Nursery: 24-hour shifts consisting of 8 hours on-site and 16 hours on-call, with the Neonatology Team serving as the primary on-call provider overnight.
• A balanced traditional clinic workweek alongside hospital shifts.
• Parent call only (with answering and triage services), on a 1:8 rotation, one week at a time.

About the Family Maternity Center

The Family Maternity Center delivers over 1,200 infants annually and is supported by a highly qualified labor and delivery nursing staff, an OB Hospitalist service, 24-hour anesthesia coverage, and a Level III Neonatal Intensive Care Unit. Our safety-focused team of OB/GYNs collaborates with on-campus Maternal Fetal Medicine specialists, Neonatologists, and genetic counselors to cater to the diverse patient population in the region. The postpartum unit features 16 private family rooms, allowing infants to room-in with their mothers or intended parents. We provide excellent support from lactation consultants, neonatal pharmacists, nutritionists, occupational therapists, social workers, and case management to address the unique needs of each family.

With a strong commitment to practicing evidence-based medicine, the Family Maternity Center and NICU teams emphasize a family-centered approach, encouraging collaboration between parents and our expert staff in both the Boise and Nampa units to achieve outcomes that surpass national benchmarks.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct shift-based rounds on newborn nursery patients, including physical examinations, completing history and physicals, daily progress notes, and discharge summaries, along with parent education and anticipatory guidance for well newborns.
• Manage well-newborn patients effectively.
• Engage in multidisciplinary rounds with nursery staff, providing active management strategies, including nutritional adjustments, clinical management, lab and radiology reviews, and family updates.
• Perform circumcisions and frenotomies as necessary.
• Offer on-call support for well-newborn infants and facilitate transfers to the NICU when clinically indicated.
• Coordinate hand-offs to the NICU team for overnight primary clinical management, transitioning to backup on-call provider for unexpected high acuity cases or unique pediatric care needs.
• Develop and maintain a half-time patient panel in the clinic setting.

Ideal Candidate Profile

• Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathy (DO) degree.
• Successful completion of an accredited ACGME/AOA Pediatrics Residency.
• Certification by the AAP or the ability to obtain such certification within three years of employment.
• Possession of Idaho medical licensure and privileges at the Boise facility.
• Desired qualities include teamwork, leadership, adherence to protocols, and strong surgical and OB sonography skills.
• Current DEA and controlled substance registration.
