Hospital Attendant - OR - Full Time Evening Shift (3:00 PM -11:30 PM)

Hospital Attendant – Operating Room – Full Time Evening Shift Job Description – Stony Brook Medicine. Provide routine custodial services to patients, residents, and public areas throughout the hospital, including the operating room. Perform turnover to prepare rooms for the following surgical cases and clean operating room environments. Qualified candidates should demonstrate excellent interpersonal skills, strong time‑management ability, attention to detail, and the capacity to work with all levels of the organization. Responsibilities Picks up and removes hazardous articles from floors, furniture, and equipment and places them in designated receptacles. Removes all waste from the operating room. Removes suction canisters and Neptune devices appropriately. Washes floors and equipment as needed, including operating room beds, surgical lights, booms, walls, kick buckets, glass cabinets, and positioning devices. May set up equipment in assigned areas. Adheres to all infection control and regulatory agency standards. Cleans surgical suites and peri‑operative areas. Performs all other related tasks as assigned. Qualifications Required: Must be able to speak English and perform medium to heavy physical labor. Preferred: Prior experience working in a hospital setting, excellent interpersonal skills, effective time‑management ability, keen attention to detail, and the ability to work with all levels of the organization. Start Requirements Successfully complete a pre‑employment physical examination and obtain medical clearance from Stony Brook Medicine’s Employee Health Services. Complete an electronic reference check with a minimum of three professional references. Successfully complete a 4‑panel drug screen. Meet regulatory requirements for pre‑employment screenings. Provide a copy of any required New York State license(s) or certificate(s). Benefits & Compensation The salary range for this position is $36,232 – $38,235 per year. Additional compensation may include location pay ($4,000), inconvenience pay/supplemental shift differential ($575). The hospital provides generous leave, health plans, and a state pension.
