Certified Diabetes Care and Education Specialist

Overview Provide education and support to pregnant patients managing diabetes by teaching nutrition, blood sugar monitoring, and disease management techniques. The role works closely with Maternal‑Fetal Medicine physicians and care teams to develop care plans, improve patient outcomes, support program development, and serve as a resource for diabetes care during pregnancy. Schedule: 40 hours per week, Shift: Days. A sign‑on bonus is available for this position. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Provide education and training to perinatal patients on nutrition, meter use, and disease process. Collaborate with Maternal‑Fetal Medicine physicians to develop and implement care plans. Act as a system resource for managing diabetes in pregnancy. Participate in training students, partners, and residents on diabetic education, medical nutrition therapy, and patient resources. Maintain CEU/CME required for licensure and complete focused education related to perinatal nutrition and diabetes management. Participate in clinic/program development, including policy and procedure updates and quality initiatives related to diabetes care. Enter appropriate charges into EPIC with strong attention to detail. Participate in program needs as assigned, conduct peer review, and remain familiar with ADA program requirements. Education and Experience Bachelor’s degree in Dietetics, Food and Nutrition, or related field from a four‑year college/university. Completion of an accredited or approved supervised practice program. State certification/licensure as a Registered/Licensed Dietitian in WI and IL. Certified in Diabetes Care and Education (CDCES). If not CDCES, 15 CME credits per year required; CDCES required within 2 years of hire. Prior ADA program experience preferred. Skills and Abilities Strong interpersonal and communication skills. Strong interpretive, organizational, and analytical skills. Ability to work flexible hours. Special Physical Demands Requires manual dexterity to operate computer/technology for diabetes care. Requires frequent talking and listening. Requires frequent walking or prolonged sitting. May occasionally lift or move up to 10 pounds. Level of Supervision None. Supervises: None.
