LEAD CONTROLLER

Oureon is building autonomous air traffic control systems designed to enable real-time communication and coordination between manned and unmanned aircraft. We are hiring an Air-Traffic-Control Lead to support the structured development, testing, and operational validation of our autonomous air traffic control platform. This role ensures that all airspace coordination logic, communications, and separation modeling reflect real-world aviation standards and regulatory expectations. You will work directly with engineering, pilots, and flight operations teams to evaluate how autonomous communication systems perform in live airspace environments. Your operational expertise will shape how our system models separation standards, phraseology, traffic sequencing, and decision-making logic. All flight testing will be conducted within approved airspace at our designated test site, under established safety protocols, and in full compliance with applicable FAA regulations. What You'll Be Doing • Provide operational ATC expertise throughout system design and development

• Support structured testing and evaluation involving real aircraft under approved operational conditions
• Help train and validate AI models using real-world ATC procedures and scenarios
• Define compliant phraseology, workflows, and coordination logic aligned with FAA and ICAO standards
• Assist in developing standard operating procedures (SOPs) for system use
• Identify safety risks, edge cases, and operational constraints during testing
• Collaborate with engineering teams to translate aviation requirements into system behavior
• Participate in safety reviews, operational assessments, and validation exercises
• Ensure all system outputs align with established aviation safety principles and separation standards

Technical Requirements Required: • 4+ years of experience as an Air Traffic Controller

• Strong working knowledge of U.S. airspace structure, separation standards, and ATC procedures
• Demonstrated experience coordinating live aircraft operations
• Deep familiarity with aviation communications and standard phraseology
• Strong operational judgment and safety-first decision making
• Ability to work cross-functionally with engineering and product teams
• Willingness to participate in structured flight test and evaluation programs

Preferred: • U.S. Air Force Air Traffic Control experience (Combat Controller)

• Experience operating in joint military and civilian airspace environments
• Exposure to UAS operations or mixed manned/unmanned airspace
• Background in defense aviation, emergency response aviation, or wildfire aviation operations
• Familiarity with radar systems, ADS-B, surveillance technologies, and airspace monitoring systems
• Experience contributing to operational procedures, training programs, or safety evaluations
