Summary of the Dietary Cook position

Perform the day-to-day activities of the Dietary Department in accordance with current federal, state, and local standards, guidelines and regulations governing our facility, and as may be directed by the Director of Dietary, to assure that our facility is maintained in a clean and safe manner.

Responsibilities

Essential Duties & Responsibilities of the Cook

• Meal Preparation & Cooking: Prepare daily meals and snacks for residents, following established menus and dietary guidelines.

• Dietary Restrictions: Adhere to individualized meal plans for residents with specific dietary needs, such as low sodium, low sugar, gluten-free, or diabetic diets.

• Food Safety & Hygiene: Maintain cleanliness and organization of kitchen equipment, utensils, and storage areas in accordance with food safety regulations. Ensure compliance with health and safety standards.

• Inventory Management: Assist in monitoring food stock, report shortages, and ensure all supplies are kept at proper levels.

• Collaboration: Work closely with dietary managers, dietitians, and other kitchen staff to ensure all food is prepared to the highest quality standards and meets residents’ needs. Menu Planning Support: Assist in menu planning by providing input on seasonal ingredients, resident preferences, and special dietary needs.

• Resident Interaction: Occasionally serve meals to residents and ensure their dining experience is pleasant.

• Cleaning: Ensure all kitchen and dining areas are cleaned, sanitized, and organized at the end of each shift.

Qualifications

Requirements of the Cook position:

• High School Diploma

• Ability to read, write, and understand directions in the English language.

• Must be able to perform physical activities,i.e.climbing, sitting, stooping, lifting wet and dry, pushing, walking, standing, and reaching.
