HVAC Mechanic III-Atlantic Health Chilton Medical Center-Full Time

Job Description Responsible for installing, servicing, and repairing heating, ventilating, and air conditioning systems, and related environmental‑control systems utilizing knowledge of heating and refrigeration theory, pipefitting, and structural layout. Principal Accountabilities Perform routine maintenance on HVAC and refrigeration systems, including filters, belts, motors, and coils. Install new HVAC equipment and ductwork following specifications and building codes. Perform air and water balancing of HVAC systems to ensure proper distribution. Maintain proper temperature, humidity, and air changes in the ORs, isolation rooms, labs, pharmacies, and clean rooms. Troubleshoot HVAC equipment, including thermostats, air handlers, exhaust systems, and split systems. Monitor HVAC systems and report alarms or irregularities to shop supervisor. Interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and job specifications for HVAC work. Function as a mentor to lower‑level Team members; possess advanced knowledge of function/family and department. Perform other related duties as assigned. Qualifications Required: High School Diploma or equivalent. 7+ years experience in HVAC or a related area. Universal EPA Certification. Preferred: Completion of HVAC School. Refrigeration Certification. About the Team The Environmental Service Department ensures the cleanest and safest healthcare environment for all team members, patients, and visitors by cleaning and disinfecting common areas, outpatient areas, procedural areas, and patient rooms, including bathrooms, furniture, carpet/hard‑surface floors, vents, electronics, and patient equipment. The team uses sanitizing processes of the highest quality required by multiple regulatory agencies and collaborates with the Infection Prevention and Quality Departments to ensure consistent alignment at all sites.
