Plate Buyer

Meyer Utility Structures is searching for a Plate (Steel) Buyer for our Clinton, Illinois, and Tulsa, Oklahoma, plants. The plate buyer purchases metal plates (such as steel or aluminum) for the Meyer Clinton and Tulsa plants. In this role, you will source material, negotiate with suppliers, manage inventory levels, ensure quality standards, and coordinate deliveries to meet production schedules. Also, the buyer will often work closely with engineering, logistics, material planners, and production staff to ensure cost-effective and timely material acquisition.Meyer Utility Structures is a proud subsidiary of the infrastructure company, Arcosa, Inc. Meyer Utility Structures is an industry leader in the engineering design and fabrication of concrete and tubular steel structures for transmission, distribution, and substation applications.What You’ll Do:Coordinate incoming movement of steel products and delivery services to ensure material availability and delivery when needed to meet production schedulesCompile data on order volume, production schedules, and forecastsPrepare and process purchase orders for the procurement of goods, services, and supplies for customer-related business or internal usePlan, schedule, and monitor inbound movement of materials from suppliersDetermine material requirements and coordinate the efficient movement of materials with purchasing, production, and engineeringCoordinate information and activities with other team membersMay coordinate or exchange information with third parties, vendors, or customersAll other duties and responsibilities as assigned or requiredWhat You’ll Need:Strong written and verbal communication in English Requires a bachelor's degree in logistics, supply chain, or related field or equivalent experience, and at least 3 years of relevant experienceIntermediate to advanced computer skills, including Microsoft ExcelDemonstrate successful experience staying organized while multitaskingMinimum of 2 years of procurement experience (preferred)Experience in steel purchasing (preferred)A high level of dependability, a great attitude, and an ability to work well with a team towards achieving a common goalJob SummaryRequisition Number: PLATE014675Job Category: Logistics Supply ChainSchedule: Full-Time
