Trusts and Estates Attorney

Job Overview A law firm seeks an experienced attorney to join its Trusts and Estates Practice in Alexandria, VA. The attorney will provide legal counsel in estate planning, trust administration, and estate administration, including litigation. This role involves working with individuals, families, fiduciaries, and business owners on estate planning and related tax matters. Admission to the Virginia Bar is required, with MD and DC admissions being a plus. The position offers flexibility to be based out of Alexandria or Leesburg. Duties Advise clients on comprehensive estate planning, including wills and trusts. Develop tailored estate plans addressing complex family structures and tax concerns. Draft, review, and amend estate planning documents for legal compliance. Counsel clients on estate and gift tax implications. Guide executors and trustees in probate and trust administration. Prepare probate filings and related submissions to the Commissioner of Accounts. Advise fiduciaries on notices, claims, asset valuation, and fiduciary duties. Resolve disputes involving fiduciary administration and beneficiary rights. Requirements Minimum of 2 years of substantive experience in Wills, Trusts, and Estates. Strong knowledge of fiduciary law, probate procedures, and estate administration. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Strong drafting, analytical, and organizational skills. Ability to manage multiple matters and meet deadlines. Experience with Interactive Legal Services and Clio software. Demonstrated interest in estate planning. Education Juris Doctor (JD) degree.
