Accountant I, Accounts Payable

Accountant I, Accounts Payable – University Advancement Georgia State University Advancement – seeking an Accountant I to support organizational and philanthropic functions. Key Responsibilities Review and approve daily disbursement requests and enter them into the General Ledger. Audit, reconcile, and correct daily accounts payable entries. Respond to inquiries from the university community regarding disbursements, foundation policies, and IRS regulations. Monitor compliance with applicable laws, policies, and procedures. Work with requesters to resolve issues with requests, documentation, or approvals. Reconcile the check run from Accounts Payable to batch details and invoices; process and distribute checks. Assist with monthly 1099 vendor reconciliations. Train new staff, student assistants, and temporary staff. Execute additional analysis, projects, and duties as assigned by the Accounting Manager, Accounts Payable, and Comptroller. Compensation Anticipated Hiring Range: $47,500 - $48,000. Qualifications Minimum Requirements: Bachelor’s degree or high school diploma/ GED plus four years of bookkeeping or accounting experience, or a combination of education and related experience. Preferred: Accounts Payable experience, familiarity with Blackbaud Financial Edge, Microsoft Office (Excel and Outlook), and a customer-service orientation. Location & Schedule Atlanta Campus, Monday-Friday 8:30 AM - 5:15 PM; occasional nights and weekends.
